Postdoctoral Position at ETH Zurich / Chemistry

We seek to fill a postdoctoral position in our research group. The topic of the research project will be the coupling of a novel plasma ionization source for high-resolution mass spectrometry with solid-phase microextraction, characterization and further development of this hyphenated method, and development of promising analytical applications. This project is a collaboration with a major manufacturer and supplier of SPME and lab automation devices. State-of-the-art MS instrumentation is available in our group, and world-class departmental facilities (mechanical and electronic workshops, library services, computing facilities, etc.) are accessible at ETH Zurich.

Prerequisites: Ph.D. degree in chemistry or related area, strong background in analytical chemistry and instrumentation, motivated to work with an industrial partner. Further information: see http://www.zenobi.ethz.ch/research/ambient-mass-spectrometry.html. Starting date: January 2017, or upon mutual agreement.

Applications with CV, publication list, and 2 letters of recommendation should be sent directly to Prof. Renato Zenobi, by mid September 2016.

Postdoctoral Position at University of Liverpool

Have proteomics experience and interested in cell signalling/cancer research? A postdoc position is now available with Dr. Patrick Eyers and Prof. Claire Eyers (Centre for Proteome Research) at the University of Liverpool. Application deadline Friday 2nd September.

The laboratories of Dr Patrick Eyers and Professor Claire Eyers evaluate human phosphoproteomes using a variety of approaches, including biochemistry, transcriptomiccs, chemical biology and mass spectrometry. We are looking for an experienced cell signalling or MS-based phosphoproteomics researcher to lead a North West Cancer Research (NWCR) funded project to evaluate the Polo-like kinase 4 signalling pathway and its role in cancer. You will have a PhD in Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a related biological science, a strong interest in protein phosphorylation, and demonstrable knowledge and experience of mass spectrometry for cell signalling analysis. The post is available immediately for 1 year initially, with the possibility of a 2 year extension.

Top Down and Structural Mass Spectrometry: a practical course

Lisbon | December 19-21, 2016

About

This course will cover many of the modern methods of structural analysis of bio-macromolecules by Mass Spectrometry.

Specific topics that will be addressed include:

  • Native Mass Spectrometry
  • Structural MS instrumentation
  • Top-down Mass Spectrometry

Structural MS Training School May 3-8, 2017

The David Lopatie Conference Centre, Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel

About the Workshop

Mass spectrometry (MS) is becoming increasingly popular in the eld of structural biology for analyzing protein structures and for mapping protein-protein interactions. Various MS-based approaches have been developed over the years to provide insights into the structural properties of protein complexes. Therefore, the aim of this workshop is to expose students and researchers interested in structural biology to the arsenal of tools o ered by structural mass spectrometry.

Registration deadline – February 15, 2017

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the Reprogramming and Chromatin Group headed by Dr Petra Hajkova at the Clinical Sciences Centre (CSC) in Imperial College London. The group studies molecular mechanisms underlying epigenetic reprogramming in vivo and in vitro (for further information, please visit http://www.csc.mrc.ac.uk/Research/Groups/EDC/ReprogrammingChromatin/)

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate scientist experienced in the field of mass spectrometry to join our efforts to elucidate molecular mechanisms implicated in the dynamic changes in nucleic acid modifications observed in early mouse embryo, developing germ line and pluripotent stem cells. Our group operates our own QQQ LC/MS instrument (Agilent 6490) and focuses on cutting edge, ultra-sensitive detection of DNA and RNA modifications in minute biological samples (see Amouroux et al, Nat Cell Biol, 2016) .For informal enquiries please contact Dr Petra Hajkova (petra.hajkova@csc.mrc.ac.uk).
